The Hypatia Trust has commissioned seven new short films to celebrate the ways in which women shape Cornwall’s musical life. The films will be screened at CAST throughout the day on 30 and 31 July. All are non-fiction, focusing on contemporary women who work with music in many different ways – from music therapist to folk pioneer, performer, conductor, composer, choir leader. Taking different and innovative approaches, the films explore the work of these women and the meaning of music in their lives. They have been created by seven teams of filmmakers as part of the Hypatia Trust’s creative heritage project ‘Women of Cornish Music: Past & Present’, which is supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, Cornwall Heritage Trust, FEAST and Screen Cornwall. For more information on the films and the project, visit the Hypatia Trust website.
