Chromacopia, the film created especially for the Art Lab schools programme by artist and learning specialist Kate Turner, will also be shown in CAST’s black box space during the half-term holiday. Enjoy bold and bright animations, sounds and stories and immerse yourself in a world of colour. Explore the vibrant spectrum of meanings and associations we have with colours and their role in history and nature.

Pictured above are a small selection of stills from different sections of the film. One pairs William of Orange and the orange carrot, whilst another explores the history of vermillion red: once as precious as gold and treasured by medieval artists, vermillion adorns the pages of beautiful manuscripts. It is glazed with a surprising mix of egg yolk and earwax.
