Hallway, CAST, April 2020

There is a range of online content to explore on the CAST, Groundwork and Cornwall Workshop websites.

Highlights include:

Lucy Grant’s animations and online presentations of Think and Make activities; insights into artists’ lives during Lockdown with contributions by poet Rachael Allen, filmmaker Jane Darke and artists Christina Mackie, Melanie Smith, Denzil Forrester, Phillippa Clayden, Hadrian Pigott and Adam Chodzko; recordings of conversations between Dom Bailey of CAST Café and artist Ben Sanderson on walks in West Cornwall; personal introductions to two recent Artist Choice screenings (Simon Bayliss on Derek Jarman’s ‘The Garden’ and Caitlin DeSilvey on the documentary ‘Drop City’); a reflection on the 2019 Cornwall Workshop by artist participant Mollie Goldstrom; video documentation of artist Abigail Reynolds’s 2018 Groundwork commission Tremayne; conversations between artists Nina Royle and Dan Howard-Birtand and graduating painters from Falmouth School of Art on the themes of Touch, Translation and Present Space; and Nicola Bealing’s report on a visit to Oaxaca early this year.

The Record section of the Groundwork website includes recordings of conversations with Peter Doig and Matthew Higgs, Steve McQueen and Francis Alÿs, writing by Adam ChodzkoPatrick Langley, David Paton and Lucy Stein, and Abigail Reynolds’s podcast of an overnight walk across the Lizard peninsula on the summer solstice in 2016.

The CAST building has been closed to the public while the UK has been in lockdown. We are now planning a public programme that follows social distancing guidelines, and the Café will re-open in early August.
