Throwing for Beginners with Bridie Maddocks
Saturday afternoons, 2pm – 4.30pm
8, 15, 22 and 29 October
Level: Beginner
Course fee £130
Learn how to throw your first forms on the potters wheel. You will be guided through the processes of wedging, centring, forming walls and shaping clay on the wheel. You’ll then select your five favourites and will be shown how to apply glaze before we fire them for you, ready to collect within three weeks of the last session.
The course fee includes tuition, equipment, materials and firing of five pieces.
Eight-week Ceramics with Shannon Barlett-Smith
Wednesday evenings, 6pm – 8.30pm
2, 9, 16, 23, 30 November, 7, 14, 21 December
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Course fee £270
Discover a range of hand-building techniques, throw your first pots on the wheel, explore surface decoration and learn how to glaze in these eight sessions with Shannon. You will be shown each making process at the beginning of the session and then supported to improve your skills and develop your ideas as the course progresses.
The course fee includes tuition, equipment, materials and firing of seven pieces.
Clay for Artists with Rosanna Martin
Friday afternoons, 1.30pm – 4pm
30 September, 14 and 21 October, 11 and 25 November, 9 December
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Session fee £15. You are welcome to book individual sessions or come to them all.
These sessions are for artists who want to explore clay, as time out of your practice to play with a new material, or to realise an idea you already have, but for which you need some technical support. All ideas welcome!
The session fee includes tuition and equipment. Clay and firing to be purchased separately per use.
Open Access Studio Sessions
Monday and Thursday evenings, 5.30pm – 8.30pm
Thursday afternoons, 1.30pm – 4.30pm
Level: Intermediate
Session fee £18
Use the studio facilities at your own pace with support from our team of technicians during these bookable sessions.
The session fee includes use of full range of studio equipment, in-house slips and glazes and technical support. Wheels to be booked in advance. Clay and firing to be purchased separately.
Clay Taster Sessions
Saturday mornings, 10am – 12.30pm
22 October and 26 November
Level: Beginner
Session fee £35
One-off sessions allowing you to have a go on the wheel and learn to pinch and coil your first pots! Perfect for beginners, families, as a gift, or a refresher and intro to the studio if you’ve done a bit before.
The session fee includes tuition, equipment, materials and firing of three pieces.
Clay Surgeries with Rosanna Martin
Last Wednesday of every month, bookable 50 minute one-to-one session between 10am and 2pm
26 October, 30 November, 14 December
Level: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Session fee £25
Time to troubleshoot technique, get practical advice on ways of making or a tutorial about your practice. Rosanna has been working with clay for over fifteen years and has a broad range of experience to draw upon to help move your work forward.
The session fee includes tuition and equipment. Clay and firing purchased separately.
