Milly Thompson worked as part of collaborative art group BANK (1994 – 2003) and has since pursued her solo career. She has shown work in many different environments, from low key group shows to influential solo shows both nationally and internationally. Using a broad range of materials including digital media, sculpture, text, drawing, photography and painting, she is interested in aspiration, ambition, self-consciousness and pleasure in relation to the art world and social codes.

She is a Visiting Tutor in the Painting programme at the Royal College of Art and a Lecturer on the MFA Fine Art at Goldsmiths College. She has been a recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Award and the Sargant Scholarship at the British School at Rome.

Milly is a member of Cubitt, an artist-led gallery and studio provider based in Islington. Cubitt is an independent organisation managed by its members, a community of over 30 artists dedicated to nurturing and supporting emerging practice in the visual arts. Milly will talk and answer questions about Cubitt and about her own work.

Ingrid Swenson, Director of PEER, will also be present and will join the discussion. Milly Thompson exhibited at PEER in 2008. Ingrid Swenson is a former trustee of Cubitt.

CAST Café will serve food from 6.30pm, something hot and something sweet for £5.

CAST’s public programme for 2015/16 is supported by Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts, using funds from the National Lottery.
