We are excited to announce that our new ceramics studio will open in July. Brickworks at CAST is led by artist and ceramicist Rosanna Martin, who set up and ran the popular open-access studio Brickworks, Penryn. Rosanna holds an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art and brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge gained in the development of projects for White Gold, St Austell and Leach Pottery, amongst others.

Brickworks at CAST will provide short courses and workshops, as well as open-access sessions and membership options. The official public opening weekend is Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July and everyone is invited to drop-in and have a go at throwing a pot on the wheel or make a kiln god to welcome the new kilns to the studio. We have confirmed dates for the first two courses: a six-week introduction to hand-building, throwing and surface decoration with Jaye Taylor will take place on Wednesday evenings from 13 July, and a four-week course in throwing for beginners, led by Bridie Maddocks, will run on Saturday afternoons from 23 July. There will also be one-off taster sessions towards the end of the month. Full details and prices can be found here. To book a course or to register your interest in open access sessions, please email [email protected]

Funding to develop the studio has been agreed by the Community Led Local Development programme (CLLD), administered by the Cornwall Development Company Ltd as the Accountable Body for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
