Following the most recent Government advice on non-essential contact, we have with great regret taken the decision to cancel all forthcoming public events at CAST.
We know that many former pupils and teachers of the Penrose Road school were looking forward to meeting and exchanging news at the Green School gathering planned for Thursday 26th March and we are very sad that the event cannot take place.
We are also very disappointed that we have to cancel the screening on Saturday 28th March, at which Jane Darke had agreed to introduce her film The Wrecking Season, an evocative documentary portrait of the playwright Nick Darke. And in April we were looking forward to the conversation between the internationally celebrated artist Mike Nelson and cultural geographer Caitlin DeSilvey, focusing on Nelson’s eloquent work The Asset Strippers, installed at Tate Britain last year.
We hope that these will only be postponements and that we shall be able to reschedule all the events we had planned when things return to normal. Meanwhile we are beginning to think about alternative ways of sharing activities and cultural experiences with you.
Lucy Grant’s art lab programme for primary schools, which should be taking place this week, and her popular creative workshops for children and families are also suspended, starting with Make a Spring Thing, which was scheduled for April 4th. While we’re unable to hold workshops at CAST Lucy will suggest some fun, low cost ideas to try out at home or in the garden. We hope to see many of the diverse and delightful creations that will no doubt result shared via social media in the coming weeks.
