CAST Film Club presents a screening of Martina Amati’s beautiful series of films exploring free-diving. In the Under films, Amati has explored the subject of free diving, the act of swimming deep underwater on a single breath of air without breathing apparatus, through different genres: a 34-minute documentary, a multi-screen film installation, presented at Ambika P3 in London in October last year, and a short fiction film.

Martina is travelling from London to talk about her work. Her cameraman, Daan Verhoeven, also a free diver, will also contribute to the Q&A following the screening, with his partner static free dive champion Georgina Miller. Verhoeven and Miller are now based in Cornwall and live on the Lizard peninsula.

CAST Café will serve food from 6.30pm, something hot and something sweet for £6.

CAST’s public programme for 2015/16 is supported by Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts, using funds from the National Lottery.

CAST Film Club programme is curated by Kelly Taylor.
