CAST has been working with LUX Artists’ Moving Image Agency to develop the third Cornwall Workshop. This weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists, curators and writers based in the South West will take place from 11 to 18 March. The 2016 Workshop will be led by acclaimed British artist and filmmaker Ben Rivers and will focus on artists’ moving image practices, with an emphasis on analogue technologies.
LUX’s contribution to The Cornwall Workshop will lead into a Tate St Ives organisational residency at Porthmeor Studios during March and April 2016. Kestle Barton will host the workshop, providing residential accommodation for participants and workshop leaders. The workshop will accommodate ten participants selected from an open submission and a small number of invited international participants.
The Cornwall Workshop is organised by CAST and presented in partnership with LUX, Kestle Barton Trust and Tate St Ives, with support from Visual Arts South West, Plymouth College of Art, Creative Skills, The School of Film and Television and the School of Art at Falmouth University, the Polish Cultural Institute, London and Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Como.
The Cornwall Workshop builds on the legacy of The Falmouth Convention (2010) and The Penzance Convention (2012). The first Cornwall Workshop was held in October 2011, led by Mark Dion, and the second in October 2013, led by Simon Starling.
